Anxiety, ADHD & the Brain: Exploring the Power of Neurofeedback

This week’s episode is a special one. I sat down with my brilliant friend and licensed psychotherapist, Mikayla, who recently made a huge leap in her career—opening her very own private practice, Thrive Therapy, in Palm Beach Gardens.

We recorded this conversation in her beautiful, cozy new office (which she decorated to perfection, by the way), and it truly felt like a full-circle moment. I’m so proud of her, and I can’t wait for you to hear everything she had to share.

Our talk centered around some of the most common mental health challenges people are facing today: anxiety. This is not just a buzzword—it’s a real, deeply felt experience that so many people are navigating right now, often in silence. Mikayla shared insights into why they’re so prevalent and what we can actually do to cope, support ourselves, and feel more grounded.

One of the most fascinating parts of our conversation was about neurofeedback—a new tool Mikayla has added to her practice. If you’ve never heard of it, think of it as brain training. It’s a non-invasive technique that helps regulate the brain’s activity and is showing incredible results for anxiety, ADHD, and more. We broke down what it is, how it works, and why it’s such an exciting (and effective) new modality.

Here’s what else we covered:

  • Why anxiety and ADHD are on the rise in our overstimulated, high-pressure culture
  • The importance of movement and how it helps regulate anxious energy
  • How community and connection are essential to mental health
  • The pros and cons of using AI as a form of therapy (yes, we went there!)
  • Tools and recommendations for managing stress and staying grounded in your daily life

Mikayla’s approach is compassionate, science-based, and incredibly human. She has a way of making you feel like you’re not alone—like whatever you’re experiencing is valid, and there is a way forward.

And again, I just have to say how proud I am. Opening Thrive Therapy has been Mikayla’s dream, and seeing her bring it to life—with so much care and intention—is seriously inspiring.

If you’ve ever felt anxious, overwhelmed, scattered, or just curious about new ways to support your mental health, this episode is for you.

🎧 Tune in to hear Mikayla’s story, learn about neurofeedback, and walk away with real tools to help you feel more connected to yourself and others.
