Every once in a while, you meet someone whose story leaves you genuinely speechless—inspired, lit up, and kind of in awe. That’s exactly how I felt after sitting down with my friend Axi, who just blew me away during our recent podcast interview.
Let me rewind for a second. I met Axi about a year ago through a fitness community we both belong to. We’d work out together, cheer each other on, and slowly started getting to know more about each other outside of the studio. I remember her casually mentioning that she was into digital media and producing. And I noticed—her Instagram? Like, stunning, creative, scroll-stopping kind of content.
So last year, around my birthday, I reached out and asked her if she’d take a fun photo of me so I can post it to social media! (Im into that sort of stuff) I just wanted one special shot to post, and she was totally down. We met at the beach and what started as a quick photo turned into a full-on photoshoot. It was playful, creative, and honestly one of the most fun birthdays I’ve had in a while. But even then, I had no idea just how deep her creative background ran.
Fast forward to now. I had the chance to sit down and really hear her story—and wow. Axi is the owner of her own production company. She’s done everything from music videos to movie sets and, more recently, has focused on producing commercials. She’s a one-woman powerhouse who contracts out talent when she needs a team and does the rest herself. What floored me the most, though, was how she got her start.
At just 22 years old, with no formal education in film, media, or production, Axi took a chance that would change her life. Her mom found a behind-the-scenes ad for a position on a movie set—yes, a movie set with Tom Cruise. Axi applied, got the job, and the rest is history. The stories she shares from that experience are wild and hilarious and honestly feel like something out of a movie themselves. But the most powerful part? That single “yes” snowballed into a career. One brave decision opened the doors to a completely new life.
Now, she’s 35, thriving, and completely independent in her career. She’s someone who truly walks the walk. And one thing she said in the interview really stuck with me:
“If you want to do something, just go and do it. Ask for the job. The worst thing they can say is no.”
Simple. But sometimes we need that reminder. No formal training, no safety net—just boldness, grit, and a willingness to try.
Talking with Axi made me realize how important it is to bet on yourself. To ask for the thing, go after the opportunity, and not be afraid of rejection. Because what if it’s not a no? What if it’s the start of something huge?
This interview isn’t just a story about film production. It’s about courage. It’s about following your gut even when the path isn’t obvious. And it’s about what’s possible when we stop waiting for permission and start saying yes to ourselves.
