What Interviewing Is Teaching Me About Myself

When I started interviewing people for my podcast, I thought the biggest challenge would be coming up with good questions. But what I didn’t expect was how much I’d learn about myself along the way. One of the first things I realized was how fast I tend to talk when I get excited. Slowing down, pausing, and truly listening has helped me become more present in conversations—not just for the podcast, but in everyday life too.

Another big takeaway has been understanding the power of social media. I used to see it as just a place to post, but now I realize it’s a tool for connection. Learning how to share my guests’ stories in a meaningful way has taught me so much about engagement, storytelling, and authenticity. It’s not just about posting content—it’s about creating something that resonates.

But the most rewarding part? Hearing people’s backgrounds and stories. Every guest has a unique journey, and getting to explore their perspectives has made me more open-minded and inspired. These conversations remind me how much we all have in common, even when our experiences seem so different. I went into this hoping to share other people’s stories, but in the process, I’m learning so much about my own.
